What would you do if you wanted to make a game like Mass Effect, but had a budget of thousands of dollars instead of tens of millions of dollars? You might make a game very much like Starlight Drifter. As the name implies, Starlight Drifter is indeed a Fantasy, Space Based game. It focuses heavily on Story, Choices that Impact that Story, and meaningful Character Interactions with a large and interesting group of Characters. Speaking of Characters, the Main Character can be Male or Female, and most of the other characters are Female. There's a bit of Character Customization for the Main Character, not a lot, but you can change her hair color, eye color, and clothing, which is definitely nice. Here is a screenshot of the Female Main Character:
You'll obtain a ship, have the opportunity to upgrade and repair it from time to time, and of course recruit a large number of Crew-members. In stark contrast to Bioware's upcoming game Anthem that shockingly has no romances at all, you'll find a large number of romance options in Starlight Drifter, and here's an example of one of your potential love interests, the lovely and talented pilot of your ship, Rana:
Unlike Mass Effect, however, there is no actual 'action' in the game, no real-time combat. There's also no voice acting either. This is, again, a far smaller budget game than the actual Mass Effect. If you need big budget effects you're likely to be disappointed, but if you need quality story and characters, and you're a fan of high quality, deep and meaningful romances, you're absolutely going to love this game. I recommend you go to Steam and give this game a try today, I'm confident you'll be glad you did!
